Have you ever visited a website or read a book in which a vast amount of detail is given about the different types of ghosts? Their behaviours? Their characteristics?
‘Doppleganger’, ‘Poltergeist’, ‘Shadow ghost’, ‘grey lady’; They sound like Pokemon species, or cocktails!
These classification – stereotypes if you will, seem to be just more information that is copied down in a parrot fashion by ghost hunting teams who cannot be bothered to conduct any proper research for themselves – it almost appears as though people who display such information about ghost stereotypes just read it, take it as a fact without even looking into the information for validity, and then copy and paste it into their website.
The truth is that no ghost/spirit – call it what you will, has ever been documented in a controlled condition. There is no documented evidence that suggests that ghosts exist. So ask yourself, if there is no documented evidence that ghosts do exist – how can these ghost hunters break ghosts into different types?
Perhaps it is just guess work? Or something they have been told by someone who displays themselves as a paranormal expert?
It is a common mistake that people make when dealing with the different experiences had by people who believe they are living or working in a haunted building.
Many of the experiences reported to investigation teams follow the same trends; Cold spots, seeing shadows out the corner of the eye, things disappearing and reappearing etc.
Many people who do not conduct their own thorough research – opting instead to just take the word of other people as the truth, would instantly look at some reported symptoms of a possible haunting and attribute them to the necessary ghost type.
Objects vanishing and then reappearing – poltergiest!
shaddowy figures out corner of the eye – shadow ghost!
See how easy it is to take incorrect information and misguide people with it? The best way to handle information such as ghost classifications is to look into it, see what documented evidence there is to back up the different stereotpyes of ghosts. Truth is, you will find nothing that provides any validity to such sterotypes of spirits – just more written word from other people.
Don’t stereotype ghosts – they were people too! (alledgedly…)
